SELLING MY PAINTINGS

Hello lovelies! I hope you've had a nice week and are looking forward to the weekend! I know I am!
I've actually already mentioned this over on my instagram,(s) but if you missed that, I am selling these two paintings I did a couple of weeks ago.

The larger one (left) is $30 (SOLD) and the smaller (right) is $25 + postage cost.

Both of these little portraits are done in oil paint on some canvas off-cuts I had lying around in my painting desk. I have sooo many of these little studies around the place, so I need to start getting rid of some! If you live in NZ (I might consider selling to people in Australia if anyone was interested) and would like to purchase either (or both!) of these works off me, please leave me a comment below this post or email me, (link in sidebar as 'Advertisers.')
I hope somebody can give these lil ladies a good home.

I'll talk to you soon!

BEAUTY PURCHASES FROM URBAN OUTFITTERS

Urban Outfitters Beauty haul Mario Badescu facial spray Smith's Rosebud Salve Herbivore Botanicals Pink Clay Mask

About a week and a half ago, I decided to go ahead and order some things off the Urban Outfitters website that had been in my cart for quite some time, after finding out through some of my Twitter followers that they didn't have to pay customs fees for their orders to NZ.

I purchased the Smith's Rosebud Salve, which I've heard many a beauty blogger rave about, the Herbivore Botanicals Pink Clay Exfoliating Mask and the Mario Badescu Facial Spray, a product I've been wanting to try out for quite a while. I also bought some non-beauty things, which I might do a separate blog post on.

To my delight, everything arrived very quickly (within about a week) and was packaged very securely with bubble wrap and scrunched paper to ensure nothing broke in transit.
I was especially relieved to find that the Mario Badescu Facial Spray hadn't leaked everywhere, as I had envisioned.

Mario Badescu Skincare Rosewater and Aloe Herbs Facial Spray Toner
As these products are still relatively new, I haven't had a chance to try them all out properly yet. That being said, if there is a particular product you'd like to see a review on, please let me know in the comments and I'll get onto that for you. As I can't yet share my full thoughts on these products, I'll share my initial first impression of each item.

HERBIVORE BOTANICALS PINK CLAY EXFOLIATING MASK//
This mask comes as a powder, which you are supposed to mix with water to turn it into a paste before applying to the skin. I hadn't tried a mask like this before, so I decided to give it a go. The first time I used it, I mixed about a teaspoon of powder with about one and a half teaspoons of water to form a spreadable consistency. This mask dries on the skin quite quickly, so I think I only left it on for around 10 minutes before rinsing it off. The mask itself has some scrubby particles in it, that help to slough away dead skin cells, resulting in a brighter complexion. The second time I used this, was on my mum during a facial. This time, instead of using water to activate the mask, I used a couple of drops of my Bio Oil, which I think helped prevent the mask from drying out too much. I'm looking forward to giving this mask a thorough test!

MARIO BADESCU FACIAL SPRAY//
I've read about this toner on many beauty blogs, so I was very excited to purchase it and try it out for myself. This facial spray contains rosewater and Aloe to help refresh, hydrate and calm the skin. You can either spray this onto the skin after cleansing and before moisturising to really hydrate and plump the skin, or after makeup as a refreshing, light setting spray, to avoid the dreaded cakey look. I've been using this mostly after cleansing, both morning and night, and I am loving it so far! It's hydrating without feeling oily and it smells amazing!! You will definitely be seeing another post on this product!

SMITH'S ROSEBUD SALVE//
This is one of those products that I think every lip balm enthusiast has tried, so of course, being one of those, I had to give it a go and see what all the fuss was about. This product has a VERY strong rose scent to it, which I can only describe as the smell of The Third Eye, (For people who aren't from NZ, The Third Eye is a shop in Auckland City which sells incense and candles etc.) I have to admit, it's not my favourite scent, but the more I use this balm, the less the scent bothers me. As for the effectiveness of the balm, it is fantastic!! It is super moisturising and lasts really well on the lips. I get very dry, chapped lips in the winter, and this has really helped with that. Also, It has to be said, the tin it comes in is so pretty!

I hope you enjoyed my mini Urban Outfitters Beauty haul! I'd love to know if you've tried any of the products I bought!
I'm already eyeing up a couple more products that I want to purchase, so there may be a part 2 to this post!

I hope you all have a lovely week ahead! I start back at uni this week (ew) so I'll try and schedule some posts this upcoming weekend!

GLOWY, RUST TONED MAKE UP

Hello guys! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I was doing a photoshoot with two of my friends from uni on Wednesday. I kind of had a vague idea of what I wanted, but the rest I left up to how I felt on the day. For the shoot, I knew I wanted the make up to be very glowy and editorial looking, as well as incorporate some nice brick/rusty red tones. In the end, I was really happy with how each of the looks turned out.

For the skin, I first applied the Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Face Cream to prep it for the make up I was going to put on top. This look was very dewy and fresh, so it was essential to make sure that the skin was hydrated, before I went in with the other products. Both Fran and Sarah had brought some of their own make up, so I won't go into detail about their foundation, concealer, brows etc.
For the blush, I used a shade by Dainty Doll, (which has unfortunately been discontinued) which is a lovely medium rose colour with gold shimmer running throughout it, and applied this onto the apples of the cheeks and blended upwards. I then used Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl liquid highlighter on the tops of the cheekbones, tip of the nose, chin and forehead. While this would've looked perfectly fine for an everyday look, it wasn't enough to catch the light and show up in photographs, so I went back in with the Topshop Glow in Polished and set that with the powder highlighter from the Sleek Contour and highlight kit.

For the eyes, I wanted to use some orangey, red tones to compliment the pink of the backdrop I was using. First I used the shade Creation from the Lime Crime Venus palette, and patted that all over the lids with my finger, and blended out the edges with a 224 blending brush. Then I worked in a little bit of Muse, also from the Venus palette, into the outer edges, blending a little into the crease. I went back and forth between these two colours until I reached the intensity I was going for. I also took these two colours under the eye, and blended them out.
Then I grabbed a smaller brush and patted a mix of the two gold shades from the ZA Cosmetics Limited edition Christmas eyeshadow palette onto the very inner corners of the eyes. I then patted a bit of vaseline over the eyelids to give it a glossy look. I was going to leave it at just this, but then I decided I wanted to make the lids pop even more, so I patted a little of the Lime Crime glitter in the shade Aries, over the vaseline. If you are recreating this look, feel free to add mascara. I decided not to, because I've been really loving the 'naked lash' look recently.

For the lips, I wanted to do something rather soft and smudgy, rather than crisp and bold. I used Sultry Sable by Revlon and applied this to the lips with my finger to give it a softer, more sheer look. I then patted on some Vaseline and then dabbed on a little bit more of the same glitter I used for the eyes, to tie the whole look together.

Aaand that completes the look! I am really happy with how it turned out and I think it translated really nicely in the photographs.
If you recreate this look, I'd love to see pictures!! Send them to me on Twitter or Instagram!
I was thinking I might do a post on here about the photoshoot, so If you'd like/as soon as I've finished editing the photos, I could do that.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead!
