Review • Trilogy's Mineral Radiance Mask

I was sent this mask by the lovely Bianca, a few days ago to try out and review for you guys, and I can honestly say I am so pleased with they way this mask has made my skin look. The main ingredient in this mask is Kaolin clay which contains a variety of minerals responsible for drawing out impurities and deeply cleansing the skin giving an even and bright skin tone. The Evening Primrose and rose hip oil help to nourish and hydrate the skin, and pohutakawa (and other botanical) extracts promote skin regeneration.

After cleansing my skin, I apply a thin layer of this mask all over my face (avoiding the eye and mouth area) with a clean foundation brush. After about 10-15 minutes, the mask has dried and I wash it off with a flannel and warm water. After that, I splash my face with cold water to close the pores and also to make sure I removed every last bit of the mask. I will then follow this up with either a moisturizer or a hydrating toner.

-Leaves skin feeling smooth, refreshed and detoxified
-Doesn't feel sticky when applied on skin
-Makes skin appear brighter immediately after use
-Leaves skin feeling less oily, but not dry
-Extremely gentle on the skin- So I can see this being a good face mask for all skin types
-Easily washes off unlike some masks which dry to a really hard crust and need to be scrubbed off.

-The slightly thinner consistency of the mask (compared to other face masks) means it can be a little difficult to apply with fingers, however, after experimenting a bit, I found that it applies easier with a clean foundation brush.

If you are looking for a gentle, yet thoroughly cleansing facial mask, then check out the Mineral Radiance Mask by Trilogy which retails at $35.90 for a 60ml jar. You can check out the rest of their range on their website.

I really hope you all are having a lovely holiday (if you ARE on holiday that is...). Please let me know in the comments below if you like this review format, where I give a brief summary of the product and then proceed to list the pros and cons, rather than a super long-winded essay! I personally think this format is a lot more concise but I'd love to hear what you think!

Happy 2nd Birthday!

Sooo, I almost missed writing this post because I didn't check the date, but thankfully I did before the day was over. It's my blogs 2nd birthday today which actually sounds pretty crazy to me because I never would have though I would have stuck to something like this for two years! It's so weird to think that I started this blog when I was 14 and now I'm a few weeks away from being 17! Okay, so maybe it's not that weird considering that is how years work! I just wanted to thank everyone who has actually made this blog what it is today. I appreciate every single person who has looked at my blog, made them self a member, followed me on Twitter or Instagram etc. Without you guys, I probably wouldn't have continued writing posts. I can't wait for this year, not only in terms of blogging, but It is my final year of school before I go to university! Eeep! I really hope you all continue to read and enjoy my blog, and if you have any post requests, please don't hesitate to contact me either through twitter, facebook, instagram or my email address.

I am now going to go and eat a cupcake in celebration of my blog's birthday!

Most Reached for Products of Summer (So far)

This post would probably be better suited for the end of Summer, however I needed to get a post out soonish because I hadn't posted since the first of this month. I must say this Summer started out pretty crap (rain, rain and more rain), but on those lucky days where we got a bit of sun, I would try and go out with my friends or have a swim in the pool. So, I think it's fair to say, make up wasn't really a focus of mine (that being said, there is one make up item in this list, but nothing new).

I think everything in this post I have mentioned once before, except for the Blistex Medicated Relief which I purchased because my lips were pretty sunburnt after spending an afternoon sunbathing by the pool without an spf lip balm on! (Oops!) This stuff is amazing because it provides an instant cooling effect which significantly reduced the puffiness of my lips and the chapped feeling. I would apply this every so often along with my Lucas's Papaw Ointment to help seal in the treatment. I think pairing these two products together really sped up the recovery of my poor burnt lips so I could go back to wearing lipstick again!

Another product I've been reaching for a lot lately has been the Soap and Glory Fab Pore Facial Peel, which I haven't used it quite a while (hence the old packaging). My skin was looking a bit *meh* before using this and I remembered that this was a really good mask to even out and brighten the skin tone. After one use of this (I left it on for 15 minutes to really detoxify my skin) I could already feel the difference in my complexion. The dry patches around my nose and chin were pretty much gone and the pores around my nose had shrunk in size. I couldn't remember why I had stopped using this in the first place! I'm also trying to make the effort to use this mask at least twice a week to really refresh my skin.

The last item I've been loving lately is the MAC eyeshadow in Coquette which I use as an eyebrow powder. Because it's summer, I've been mainly wearing mineral powder foundation instead of my usual Revlon Photoready and Rimmel Match Perfection mix. However my mineral powder doesn't provide as much coverage, so in order to look more put together, I've been taking a bit more time and care with filling in my eyebrows. I think it's amazing how much of a difference slightly filling in or shaping your brows can make in your overall look. I feel a lot more confident with my 'eyebrows on' because I have pretty fair eyebrow hairs and the ends of my eyebrows are quite short, so finding a colour like Coquette which matches perfectly really helps me feel more made up than I may actually be.

I wanted to quickly mention that I WILL be back to filming some more videos for my youtube channel now that my brother has gone back home to Dunedin, (He was staying in our spare bedroom, which is the same room I use to film my videos) so stay tuned for those. Also, I've been on Tumblr a bit more often now that it's the holidays, so if you haven't already, (and if you want to) please follow me here. I really hope you all are having a great 2014 so far! Let me know in the comments below what you did for NYs or link me to your blog if you have one (I'm on the lookout for new blogs to add to my reading list!) or, you know, just say hi or whatever :)

By the way, I'm listening to the angelic voices of Simon and Garfunkel as I write this post...Bliss

Hello 2014

Click on the photo for picture credit

I'm going to keep this short due to the fact that I stayed awaked until about 2am last night/this morning to do the whole counting down till New Years thing, (didn't everybody?) and probably wouldn't be able to write a coherent post worth reading. I just wanted to quickly say a huge thank you to you all for making this year really special. Over this year I have gained quite a few more followers and I am so grateful. I still can't believe that people other than my friends and family actually read and enjoy my blog! It's so cool being able to chat to my readers through the comments on here as well as on my Instagram and also getting to meet other bloggers. Thank you, thank you, thank you for a wonderful 2013.

Here's to another fun-filled year of blogging! *clinks Champagne glass*
