Review • Karen Murrell Lipsticks + Giveaway!

Recently, I was contacted by Bianca on behalf of the brand Karen Murrell, who ever so kindly sent me 3 Karen Murrell lipsticks to try out. The colours I received were Sand Storm: a subtle nude, Rymba Rhythm: a classic red and Magenta Moon: a soft pinky coral.

The Karen Murrell lipstick range is available in 11 shades + the Moisture Stick which can be applied over lipstick to add further hydration and shine or as a lip plumper or balm. The collection varies from barely there nudes to vibrant fuchsias and reds.

Karen Murrell strives to provide lipsticks containing only the most natural ingredients including Avocado oil, Evening Primrose oil and Carnauba wax to ensure that "nothing nasty" touches your lips.

I was really impressed with the hydration these lipsticks gave. They are so smooth to apply and they didn't drag on the lips one bit! Karren Murrell lipsticks are rich in Omega 6, known for it's soothing and moisturising properties, which I found, made these lipsticks feel almost like a long-lasting lip balm. They are very light feeling and do not embarassingly cake or flake after a few hours of wear. My favourite of the three colours I was sent, is Rymba Rhythm, a beautiful true red. While I found this lipstick ever so slightly sheer (I usually wear VERY opaque lipsticks), I found this a really nice alternative as it's not too demanding and lasts a long time on the lips. These lipsticks would be a great option for someone who wants to try out wearing lipsticks, but is a little unsure of a good "starting off lipstick", because they can be built up from a sheer lip stain to an almost opaque (solid) lip colour.

Magenta Moon is a really pretty colour that can be worn, lightly patted on the lips as a slight lip tint, perfect for school (tried and tested), or slicked on straight from the bullet as a beautiful pink, perfect for the upcoming spring!
I don't tend to wear nude lipsticks, but Sandstorm is really pretty when gently patted on to the lips (I find it looks better this way on myself). Sandstorm paired with a dark smokey eye or even thick winged eyeliner would look amazing!

Karen Murrell lipsticks are great for vegetarians, as they are free of animal based products and do not test on animals. Big thumbs up to Karen Murrell!

  1. I would luuuuurv to win the give away because I'm a big supporter of natural makeup. Sadly it's quite expensive and I'm poor so winning would mean I wouldn't have to save for 1000000 years to buy a new lipstick or use something that I don't feel comfortable with wearing. My email is :)

  2. Haha so nice to see a NZ only competition :)
I would love to try out a Karen Murrell lipstick, I have very sensitive skin so natural products are always best for me, plus the colour is stunning!

    Hope your well!
    Anna xx

  3. Pick me!!!!!! I've been going to heaps of music events and I really need a fab colour to wear with my endless black, formal wardrobe. Course, natural would be a bonus because my Dad is one of those chemical free hippies...

  4. love the colours
im from argentina :( so sad
    love your name btw

  5. Please pick me! I am a big fan of your blog and love going on to see a new post. I am also a big fan of natural products, as my skin is very sensitive, but I don't have the kind of money to afford good makeup products (poor student yeah!) I love makeup and wearing awesome red lipsticks, as the way they can completely change your whole look is fantastic.

Keep up the good blogging work!

  6. I loooooove this! I followed your blog and liked your awesome page on facebook!
Great lipsticks! Never heard of the brand, because in Belgium we don't know that brand! So I would love to have one of them!
I do have make up at home, but funny enough I don't have any lipsticks, just lipbalms, and glosses :p
So I would love to have one of them

  7. Ooh I just see that my country doens't count for this giveaway :( time to cry :(

  8. Oh i liked your facebook page too! i just have a different facebook and google name :)

  9. I have extremely sensitive skin so I hardly ever have anything on my face, especially lipstick. The last time I tried using lipstick my lips swelled up to double its usual size and I looked like I had botox. I've had to stay away ever since and stick with lip balm or nothing at all, especially since natural products cost a fortune and the general consensus is that students are poor :)

  10. I'd love to win this, always wanted to try the Karen Murrell lipsticks! xxo

  11. Such beautiful colors, been dying to get my hands on these Karen Murell lipsticks. The pigmentation looks awesome! Just discovered your blog.. it is lovely.
