Mini Beauty Haul

A few weeks ago, I did a bit of Online shopping (as you do on a rainy night), and I came across a couple of items that I had been coveting for ages. I tend to do my online shopping on Ebay because I find a lot of the products are cheaper online + shipping than if I were to buy them in NZ. Without further a due, here are the items I purchased….

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush: I own several of the RT brushes (the buffing brush being my most used brush), so when I heard that another brush had been released, I knew I HAD* to have it (* I didn't actually HAVE to have it, but it did look very nice! hahaha! I love foundation brushes!!!) If you would like to see a review on this brush or any of the other products mentioned for that matter, let me know in the comments below.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation: If you are like me and read a LOAD of beauty related blogs, you will have seen this foundation mentioned an awful lot. I was a bit confused at first as to which one to buy as I was aware that Bourjois repackaged some of their foundations, so I picked the one with the black lid, which I think has been discontinued. Apparently this foundation is great for people with combo/oily skin because it leaves you with a matte yet radiant complexion and is easily build able. I'm really looking forward to trying out this foundation!

Essie Nail Polish in Watermelon: I was on Instagram a couple of months ago and I came across a picture by Kate from Gh0stparties (who I must mention, has PERFECT nails!). She had a beautiful pink shade on her nails, so of course I took note of the name and put it on my "To Buy" list. I already have one Essie polish in a mint shade (I can't remember the name) however, I wasn't too happy with the formula of that one as it took about 4-5 coats to begin looking opaque. Watermelon by Essie on the other hand is perfect! It glides on smoothly and appears a really solid colour.

10 Colour Blush Palette: I came across this when I simply searched "Blush palette" in the Ebay search bar. This cost approximately $5+ Free shipping, which, If you ask me, is a total bargain! It's unbranded so I can't actually link you to the website, however I'll link the Ebay seller. I wanted a blush palette for my "here and there job" of doing people's ball/event make up and this looked perfect! I am really pleased with the colours, and I am really excited to try out all of the shades (not all at once! I couldn't imagine that would look too good!)

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?

Glowing Skin • The Perfect Radiant Base

Recently I've been loving the look of dewy, glowing skin, which is actually very easy to achieve with the aid of a few products that will help to transform dull and lacklustre skin into a truly radiant and beautiful complexion.

St Ives Apricot Scrub: This scrub is my go to product when I want to really slough away dead skin cells and create a fresh base. Not only does this smooth out the skin, but it also brightens the overall tone.

Topshop Highlighter in Sunbeam: A powder highlighter is a make-up bag must-have, as it creates a beautiful healthy glow when dusted upon the cheekbones and the bridge of the nose. It can also double as a light shimmery eyeshadow.

Benefit High Beam: Not only can this product be applied to the cheekbones to give the face more dimension but it can be mixed into foundation to create the perfect dewy-finish base. Just be sure to not add too much!

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Instant Radiance: This cream product can be used under foundation to create the illusion that the skin is "glowing from within" or it can be used as a shimmery cream blush or highlighter. The shade Radiant Rose is my favourite.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Primer: This lightweight, hydrating primer creates the look of refreshed skin through the use of "Liquid light" technology. It evens out the skin tone and  hydrates for up to 8 hours. To see this product in use, click here.

Review • Badger Organic Balms

A while ago I hadn't been sleeping too well so my mum bought me the Sleep Balm by Badger. I can honestly say, it's helped so much. The combination of lavender and bergamot are perfect for soothing your mind and really improve natural sleep. On the tin it says to rub it on your temples, instead I rub it into my hands like a hand cream or I swipe a bit onto my wrists. I find this way I can smell it more and it helps me to drift off faster. While this is a sleep balm, it doesn't miraculously knock you out for the night, but instead it generally helps to calm and relax you. I do feel on the nights I use this, I have a much deeper sleep and feel more energized the next day.

Another of the Badger products that I have found to be really effective is the Stress Soother Balm. A few weeks ago I had to give a small presentation to my art history class  (Holler to my art history buddies!) which I can honestly say, terrified me. I hate presenting in front of the class (which is apparently quite normal) and I usually get very stressed about it. My mum suggested I try out the Stress Soother balm and see if that helps the stress. Anyway, I walked to class with the little tin in my blazer pocket and quickly rubbed some into my hands and a little under my nose and then took my seat. While it didn't cure my fear of public speaking, it did help to calm my nerves slightly. The mix of Rosemary, cedar, mint and chamomile really helped to rid me of my stress whilst making me smell very nice! HA!

These balms are in a super cute tin which can easily be slipped into your handbag or pocket. The product is a solid to begin with, but with the warmth of your hands the products turns into a silky smooth oil which then absorbs into the skin nicely.

I am definitely keen to try more of the Badger range (I hear the cuticle care is really good) and see if the other products work as well as these have for me.

Have you tried any of the Badger products? What did you think of them? Leave your opinions in the comments section below. I love to hear from you!

May Favourites

Wow! It's been a while since I've done one a favourites post! Sorry about that! These are just a few of the products I have been reaching for the most during month of May.

The first product I've been loving at the moment is the VO5 Elixir Miracle Mist. I spray it through my hair while it's still wet, before I blow dry it and then mist a little bit over the ends of my hair to finish. I love this product because it really smooths out my hair (which is very prone to frizziness) and makes it REALLY soft. I also adore the scent because for some unknown reason it reminds me of my trip to America in 2008.

The second product I want to mention is the Savar Essential Hydration Moisturizer*. This product was kindly sent to me along with my favourite Savar Face wash, by Savar's founder, Vicky. This moisturizer is really nourishing and leaves my skin looking really fresh and bright. I mostly use this at night because I love the way it makes my skin look in the morning. I must admit, the smell is a little unusual but it has definitely grown on me. The one I have is for oily/combination skin but there is also one for dry/sensitive skin.

I had been on the look out for new foundations to try as my usual Revlon Photo Ready foundation is running out and wasn't looking too great on my skin. I wanted to find a foundation that didn't contain too much sparkle and would be pale enough for my skin tone. I was looking at the Rimmel section at Farmers when I saw the Match Perfection Foundation. I noticed that there was a really pale shade, so I decided to give it a go. I'm so glad that I did because it's such a lovely foundation. It goes on really nicely when I apply it with my Real Techniques buffing brush and it looks so flawless on the skin. It is quite a sheer foundation which means that my freckles can still show through and it feels a lot lighter than other foundations.

The next product is also my Rimmel and it is the Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte lipstick in shade 106 which is a really pretty dark pink. I don't usually go for pink lipsticks but when my mum gave me this (she bought it for herself but didn't think the colour suited her) I decided to give it a go. This lipstick goes on so smoothly and doesn't dry out the lips at all which is great during this cold weather where dry lips are the norm. I'm definitely gonna have a look at the other colours in this range.

Another lip product I've been loving at the moment is the Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla and Macadamia. I found this during a quick trip to the supermarket and thought I'd give it a go. OH MY GOODNESS! I love this! Not only does it smell amazing (I want to eat it), but it really hydrates my lips. It contains Shea Butter and Hydra IQ for long-lasting moisturization as well as Almond oil to rehydrate and smooth the lips. This is a must have for winter.

The last product is one I've had for a long time now and that is the Soap and Glory Righteous Body Butter. I've been trying to get back into using this seeing as it's been sitting in my bathroom for about a year-ish! I use it on my legs after shaving because it makes them oh so smooth as well as my arms after exfoliating. The scent is so lovely because it's quite floral and sweet but not in a sickly kind of way. If you are looking for a really hydrating body butter, I would certainly recommend this.

I hope you enjoyed this favourite post! Please tell me if you have tried any of these products. What were some of your favourite products in May?
