Current Favourite Hair Product

I was considering making a hair care routine, but seeing as I don't really do all that much besides washing it and using hairspray when I need it I didn't see much point. Well, I am pleased to say that I have added a product into my (somewhat) routine!

Herbal Essences Set Me Up Mousse $6.99*

I was sent this hair mousse at the beginning of the year to review, but after that, I sort of forgot about it, only using it a few times as I am usually in a hurry to get out the door and don't have time for extra products. I recently got back into using it as I've found it's great for when I have my hair out and I want to tame the frizz at the ends of my hair. I apply a small amount of the mousse on my hair after I've towel dried it, and distribute the product throughout the lengths of my hair. I then blow dry as usual, "scrunching" the ends of my hair to create texture.
It's not only great for adding texture to fine hair, but it also holds curls within my hair.
I have the sort of hair that, if I let it air dry, it forms into natural waves. I find that this mousse really holds the waves/curls in place, and makes them last longer. It also doesn't leave my hair feeling too "Crunchy".

If you have fine textured hair like me, I would HIGHLY recommend this mousse.

Lipstick Haul & A Little Bit Of Chatter

Today I went to the Auckland Importers Cosmetics and Perfume Sale with my mum, (wow, try say that five times fast!)Oh my god, It was SO busy there! I also, somehow managed to get my coat covered in makeup which you could imagine, looked deeply attractive.
I got a few lipsticks which I will talk about in a minute, as well as a new mascara and another Revlon Photo Ready foundation in the colour 02 Vanilla.

There was a MASSIVE sale on Revlon lipsticks. Each lipstick cost only $7, so it seemed only sensible to buy 4! HA! I don't think I've mentioned this before, but I really like the packaging of Revlon lipsticks. I think it looks really retro (Albertine Likey!)
I got 2 of the same colour because I really like it and don't want to pay full price for another anytime soon! And then I got two different colours, one a red-y pink and the other a dark purple.

Left to right: Siren, Cha Cha Cherry, Sultry Sable.

Swatches

What did everyone do this weekend? Did any of you make it to the Importers Clearance Sale?

NOTD: Union Jack (For the Olympics!)

Hi lovely readers! Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I've been so busy at school preparing for "Mock" exams or "School Exams" as teachers call them. So today I just have a quick NOTD (Nail of the day) post for you. Seeing as the 2012 Olympics are held in London, I thought I would do a "British inspired" Nail look. Because I am not as skilled as some when it comes to nail art, I decided to go with the one feature nail in which I painted a tiny Union Jack. I am actually quite chuffed with how it turned out.
I am going to go and have a cup of tea now as I am feeling quite British! Talk to you all soon!

Do you have anything planned this weekend? Olympic themed parties perhaps?

Skincare Routine

Savar Luxury Face wash*
I apologise if I sound like a broken record, but I really do LOVE this cleanser! It is super gentle and removes all traces of make up without over drying my skin. I use this both morning and night.

Geoskin cleansing Gel*
I was sent this a little while ago to review. To write a fair review, I used this for a few weeks. I found that I actually really liked it! I used this when my Savar Luxury face wash had run out, but I do still use it every now and then.

Clarisonic
I love love LOVE the Clarisonic! It has really improved the texture of my skin so much and leaves my skin looking brighter after each use. It has also helped with the dryness I get around my nose, so my foundation goes on a lot smoother. I use it about 4-5 times a week, which to some people, may seem a lot, but I just love using it and I love how my skin feels afterwards.

Savar Instant Boost Multi-toner*
I was sent the sample size of this a little while ago to try, and I can safely say I adore this product! My skin has never felt more hydrated and smooth! A little alarming to use at first as you spray the product directly on your face, but once you get over the initial fright, it feels so refreshing! I use this after I've cleansed, morning and night.

Garnier Gentle Cleansing Milk
I use this to remove my eye make up and my face make up before cleansing. It is really gentle on my skin and doesn't sting my eyes one bit. Great product.

Clarisonic Refining Skin Polish
This came with the Clarisonic. It is a fairly thin consistency with tiny gritty bits that exfoliate gently. I use this about two times a month as I find the Clarisonic does a good job of exfoliating already.

Healtheries Well being Vitamin E 200IU natural
When my skin is not doing so well I take one of these vitamin E capsules. They brighten up my skin and make my skin feel generally smoother. Aaaand, they smell like vanilla.

Olay Total Effects moisturiser*
This is my day time moisturiser. It's not as thick as my night time one so my foundation doesn't slide off. I sometimes mix this moisturiser with my foundation to create a tinted moisturiser.

Olay Moisturising Cream
This is the moisturiser I use at night time because it is thick and long lasting. At night time my skin tends to be dryer than in the morning, so I use this to restore my skins hydration for the morning.

A teeny tiny note: Just because These products work on my skin, it doesn't mean they will necessarily work on yours too. That being said, if you have any skincare questions you would like to ask me, send me an email. I would be more than happy to help you!

I hope you all had a relaxing weekend and enjoy your upcoming week!

Revlon Lip Butters

Last holidays I went to Melbourne with my family. I took this opportunity to buy some beauty products that were not yet available in New Zealand. One of which being the Revlon Lip Butters.

I don't mean to go off on a tangent, but does anyone else hate it when the labels for things are off center or is that just my inner perfectionist coming out?
Anyway, I got the colours Tutti Frutti and Creamsicle. I love orange lipstick so I thought I would try it out in butter form (that sounds weird). I also wanted a more nude colour to possibly wear to school.

This is my favourite out of the two. This colour is fairly pigmented, but being a lip butter it is expected to be more sheer than your average lip colour. These are very easy to apply on the go too. However I do find that you have to make sure your lips aren't chapped at all before applying this as it settles into the lips and is quite noticeable. But other than that, they are very smooth and moisturizing.

I do like this colour but I find it is a tad too light to wear by itself. I tend to pat this over my lips after applying a lip balm to give an even more sheer finish. Again, i have to make sure my lips have been exfoliated to ensure a smooth application.

Overall, I am really impressed with these lip butters. I think they are a great alternative to lipsticks (I have a feeling these will be wonderful in Summer when I want a hint of colour on my lips but don't want to go all out with lipstick).

Have you tried any of the Revlon lip butters? What was your impression of them?

Twas a productive day...

This morning I went out to Sylvia Park shopping center to do some "end of holiday shopping" and go to Starbucks and get a Frappuccino. I picked up this magazine for $9.00. I haven't read this magazine before, but it looks promising. The mag also came with a CD full of music I have never heard of! Ha! I also found this bowler style hat at the Warehouse for $10! It was originally $25! Tomorrow I am going to go to K. road to do some shopping at the army surplus store and hopefully Third Eye. Hope everyone had a lovely week!

Current favourite Music

Hi lovelies! I know this isn't my usual sort of post, but I thought I would do it anyway. I decided to do a post about my current favourite music. Two of these albums are from the soundtrack of a movie I recently watched called "Third Star" (Click here for the trailer). The movie is so beautiful yet very sad. The music just fits perfectly. Others are just songs I came across by tumbling through music on Youtube and from family and friends recommendations. Fave songs from the albums will be in Brackets.

Matt Corby: Into The Flame (Brother)  Mumford & Sons: Sigh No More Bison: Quill  The Memory Band: Oh my days (Demon Days)  James Vincent McMorrow: Early In The Morning (Follow You Down To The Red Oak Tree)   Daughter: The Wild Youth (Youth)

I hope this was of some interest to you! Comment below and tell me what your current favourite songs are. Have you listened to any of the above?

NOTD: Pink & Sparkles

Hi lovelies!
Today I thought I would show you what I was wearing on my nails. When I went to Melbourne last holidays, I picked up this clear nail polish with gold glitter pieces from Sportsgirl. Not the  greatest quality but I thought It was too pretty to not buy.

June/July Favourites

Rimmel: Stay Matte pressed powder
I absolutely LOVE this powder (hence the reason it is included in this post). I love it because it is not orange at all which I find some powders are against my skin. It also lasts all day and leaves a natural looking finish.

Burt's Bees: Acai Berry lip balm*
This lip balm smells so nice and keeps my lips hydrated for a really long time. Also my first Burt's Bees product!

Real Techniques: Stippling brush
My new favourite make up brush. It is so soft and can be used to either stipple or buff foundation into the skin. It also doesn't shed at all.

The Body Shop: Lemon & Thyme shower gel

I was given this for my birthday this year, but I didn't use it for a while as I was trying to finish up my Soap and Glory body wash. I recently started using this and OH MY GOD I love it! It smells really fresh and clean. Also when used with a loofah it foams up a LOT, which is always fun! Ha!

The Body Shop (Again?! Yes) Satsuma hand sanitizer
Again, I was given this for my birthday. I've always loved the Satsuma range from The Body Shop, so it makes sense that I absolutely adore using this. It sanitizes your hands (No kidding Albertine) and makes them smell like you've been eating a Satsuma, or Mandarin if you are like me and never call a Mandarin and Satsuma.

Savar: Instant Boost Multi toner*
I must admit, this took a bit of getting used to. You are supposed to spray it on your face after cleansing morning or night or both. Now when I first tried it, I didn't know how fast it was gonna come out of the bottle so I just shut my eyes and hoped for the best. Thank god it did work and I didn't just completely blast myself in the face! This toner really refreshes your skin and I could imagine it would be wonderful to use in the Summer also.

Soap & Glory: Righteous Body Butter
Many bloggers had already mentioned how fantastic the Righteous Body Butter by Soap & Glory was, so I had to try it for myself. I can definitely see why there is such massive hype about it. Fist off, it is a MASSIVE tub! So you get heaps of product. The cream itself is super thick which I love because it feels really moisturizing. And lastly, It smells AMAZING! Nuff said.

Nellie Tier: May Chang and Mandarin Hand cream*
Carrying on with the Mandarin theme, this hand cream has been my go to lately. I mentioned it in a previous post, so for a full post about it click here!

Clarisonic: Mia
This actually belongs to my mum, but I use it quite a bit too. My mum and I were keen to try it out as there have been some awesome reviews on it. It is a fantastic wee gadget! It really exfoliates the skin and I find my my foundation goes on a lot smoother after using this. Also, it is pink. That just makes it extra amazing!

What have been your favourite products lately? Have you tried any of the products mentioned above?

My MAC eye-shadows

Hello! As you may have noticed, this is my third post of the day. Because I hadn't posted everyday like I said I would, I thought I would make up for it!
A few posts back (in my daily makeup post), I featured my mini MAC palette. I decided that I would make a post about all my MAC eye-shadows as well as swatches and show you which colours I like to wear together.
There are a fair few pictures in this post, some of which being freakishly close up swatches. Don't tell me I didn't warn you. Haha!

From left to right/top to bottom: Tempting, All that glitters, Brown down, Twinks

Rice paper, Brule

The following pictures are of colour combinations I like...

Rice paper + All that glitters

Brown down + Twinks

Brule + Tempting

Rice paper + Brule

Do you have any MAC eye-shadows? Which are your favourite?
